Abstract
The market position, virtues, and opportunities opened up by the Digital European Cordless Telecommunication (DECT) are described. The methods of approach to the standards making process are also discussed. The standardisation process is under the auspices of the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), located near Nice in France. A permanently staffed project team interfaces with the various DECT working parties formed from the appropriate interested members of ETSI
