Abstract
The Digital European Cordless Telecommunications system DECT is currently being defined as the future standard for cordless telephony and higher bit rate cordless non-voice services in Europe. DECT will use a dynamic channel allocation (DCA) procedure which causes independent links to interact so that they must be viewed as a system. Roke Manor Research have constructed a computer model of the DECT system, based upon the current outline specifications, as part of its work to support the DECT standardisation process. The authors describe the use of the computer model to investigate the comparative effect of different levels of adjacent channel rejection (ACR) on the overall grade of service (GoS) and shows that the effect of any given value of ACR can be modelled as a reduction in the capacity of the system
