  • Abstract
The author describes the conflicting requirements for the power supply in a battery driven cordless handset and derives an effective solution. Among the topics discussed are: DECT handset power consumption both in idle mode and talk mode; battery voltage supply control; battery management; handset ergonomics; Alkaline and NiCd cells; and future trends. An example of a buck-boost switch-mode power converter configuration is also presented
