Abstract
The authors have developed a data transformation matrix for the estimation of directions of arrival for multiple wideband sources when prior information about the source locations is not available. The proposed focusing matrix minimizes the average of the squared norm of focusing error over the angles of interest without prior knowledge of source locations. This data transformation matrix does not require the preestimates which existing focusing matrices need. Using this data transformation matrix, one can remove the computational burden of preestimation. Simulation examples are used to evaluate the performance of the proposed method.<>
