Abstract :
The problem of estimating the directions of arrivals of narrowband plane waves impinging on a uniform circular array with M identical sensors uniformly distributed around a circle is considered. It is shown that root MUSIC and other estimation algorithms which were designed to work with linear arrays can be applied to a circular array. Simulation experiments were conducted to compare the results of applying root MUSIC, MUSIC, and minimum norm to the transformed outputs of a 23-element circular array of radius 5 lambda /2 pi with those that are obtained by applying MUSIC and minimum norm to the array outputs directly.<>
