Abstract
Discharge current is usually used as the feature to assess insulating material. The experiment of the discharging was carried out on polycarbonate (PC) by using a pulse voltage. To analyze the discharge current, chaos theory was used to calculate correlation dimension (D2) by using G-P algorithm. And the three-dimensional phase portraits of several types of discharging currents were reconstructed according to Takens theorem. The results show that D2 increases with decreasing the electrode distance or increasing the content of flame retardant. The phase portraits of sate space reconstruction become more complex with decreasing the electrode distance or increasing the content of flame retardant.
