Abstract
The Sonar and Underwater Group of the School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering at Birmingham University have run a post-experience course in Sonar and Underwater Acoustics. The course lasts for two weeks. Underwater acoustics and general sonar principles are covered in the first week, while signal processing is the subject of the second week. The authors describe the way in which the signal processing material is taught and the experiences gained in running the course. The relevance of this activity to the teaching of DSP to undergraduates in the university is discussed so that lessons can be learnt that will benefit both activities
