Abstract
A method to obtain the convergence speed of adaptive bandpass/notch filters is proposed. The basic idea is the integration of the average step size for a coefficient update algorithm. The adaptive detection of a sinusoid with additive Gaussian noise has been investigated. It is shown that for white Gaussian noise, the convergence speed of bandpass and notch filters is the same and does not depend on the variance of input additive noise. The effects of the colored Gaussian noise is also presented. The results of computer simulation are shown, confirming the theoretical prediction
