Abstract
The current technologies and applications in solid state breakers (SSB) and solid state transfer switches (SSTS) are analyzed in this paper, in the framework of the use of innovative power electronics devices to improve the quality of the power supply. A new topology for SSTS, based on voltage source converters (VSC) is proposed in the paper, and implementation issues are discussed by means of an implemented low voltage 22 kW prototype, where the proposed control strategies, suitable for medium voltage are presented and discussed
