Abstract :
In this paper, we study integrated power and rate control for CDMA wireless systems that will support a variety of services including voice, data and video with variable bit rate requirements. More specifically, we examine the convergence behavior of distributed power control algorithms under rate variations. First, we show an example of potential convergence issue that can arise; then we discuss combined power control and rate management schemes to avoid such problems
