Abstract :
This paper proposes a methodology to estimates the productivity and support the diagnosis in an open-pit mine using fuzzy logic. The variables used in the estimation process are: loading queues, dumping queues, relocation time and cycle time. After the estimation, a detailed analysis of the unproductive hours is applied in order to identify which fuzzy rules are active. The results shows which key performance indicators (KPIs) are responsible for the low productivity in the mine. Then, it is possible to establish actions aiming to maximize productivity and reduce operational costs in the mine. The proposed method was applied on Paragominas mine located in the east of the state of Para, Brazil.
