Abstract :
An enhanced wire grid model is considered for the study of scattering of electromagnetic waves by an electrically large object. In addition to the straight wire, a canonical element, namely, an arc with a finite radius of curvature, is introduced. An accurate, yet computationally efficient, technique can thus be developed for determining the current induced on the surface of this canonical element. With the present formulation, simplicity and elegance can be retained. As a demonstration, grid models representing a cylinder, a cone, and a sphere are depicted. The development of a technique for determining the current induced on the surface of a given arc is discussed.<>
