Abstract
In this paper, a novel design of a CPW-fed folded-slot antenna is proposed for RFID applications at 2.45 GHz. Firstly the advantages of using Coplanar Waveguide-fed structures over the conventional microstrip lines are discussed. Later, a novel design of the CPW-fed tilted E-shaped folded slot antenna is proposed. The radiation characteristics of this design are found to be almost omni-directional at the required resonant frequency of 2.45 GHz. Also the antenna exhibits similar radiation patterns at other frequencies around the resonant frequency. Also the bandwidth of antenna is sufficient enough for RFID application at 2.45 GHz. So these properties make the proposed antenna suitable for RFID applications in the 2.45 GHz band.
