Abstract :
The simulation of complex antenna/scatterer interactions using advanced computational electromagnetic analysis in the computer-aided engineering/super minicomputer environment is discussed. The techniques are extended to permit the assessment of antenna siting and to enable the design engineer to maximize the realized antenna performance in a multiple scatterer environment. This analysis is critical when considering modern radar applications which often require high-gain antennas with low sidelobe performance. The major analytical programs utilized in this computer tool are the Numerical Electromagnetic Codes (NEC-MOM, NEC-BSC, NEC-REF), which generate calculations for the total electric field that arises from antenna/scattering structure interaction. Pre- and post-processing routines aid in generating input files and perform far-field pattern analysis and data reduction.<>
