Abstract
The authors present a feed circuit for the flat energy density antenna for mobile telephone, and measurement results on its input characteristics and radiation pattern at 1.5 GHz. The correlation coefficient between ring patch and notch antenna of less than 0.1 is small enough for diversity branches. To verify the diversity effect of this antenna, the authors measured urban propagation characteristics at 900 MHz and compared them with results for a space diversity antenna. It is confirmed that the flat energy density antenna is appropriate for the diversity antenna of a mobile telephone.<>
