Abstract :
The time-varying response of an adaptive multiple-beam antenna against various blinking jammers is investigated. The results provide useful design rules from which a robust adaptive process can be implemented. Several conclusions on how to implement robustness in an Howells-Applebaum processor (1966) are presented. First, changes in the jamming environment must be detected in real time, and the information must be fed immediately to the adaptive processor. Secondly, the processor must be capable of making changes in the algorithm convergence time to match the blinking rates of jammers. The processor must then be able to recall previous weight values and to reset weights as necessary.<>
