Abstract
ERA has designed and built resonant link inverters at 10 kVA and 50 kVA. These have been evaluated for use with induction motor drives. The results suggest that the main benefits of resonant power conversion are at higher powers (50 kW and above), where the increase in switching frequency is most significant. The authors discuss the experimental procedure, motor voltage and current waveforms, systems losses, switching waveforms and emissions, sensing and control, protection, and device ratings
