Abstract :
A mode matching method is used to add another class of test bodies for scattering by electrically large bodies. In the two-dimensional case these bodies consist of perfectly conducting cylinders which have one or more sectors replaced by penetrable regions. This class of shapes (called the sectored cylinder), bounded by circular arcs and radial straight sections, is very large and versatile and can describe bodies with cavities of various shapes, as well as strips, finite wedges, notched cylinders, etc. Selected results are presented which give confidence in the reliability of the present analysis and software and the suitability of the sectored cylinder to serve as an accurate test body.<>
