Abstract :
A new high gain on-chip dielectric resonator antenna for 60 GHz radio wireless systems is demonstrated. The proposed rectangular integrated dielectric resonator antenna on conductive silicon (resistivity = 10 Omega-cm) has an impedance bandwidth of 1897 MHz at 59.56 GHz and 3.2 dB gain with 54% radiation efficiency, whereas for a similar antenna on high resistance silicon (resistivity = 100 Omega-cm), the transmission gain increased to 5.3 dB and radiation efficiency reached 89%.
