Abstract
To satisfy the need for a better understanding of the effects of the marine environment on electro-optical systems, a facility has been established to simultaneously and semi-automatically measure both meteorological and energy transmission parameters in this environment by instrumenting both ends of a double-ended over-ocean path. Three radiometer heads are used in connection with visible and blackbody radiation sources to cover the visible and near, mid-, and far infrared spectrum. Measurement of the meteorological parameters of wind speed and direction, temperature, dew point, pressure, and precipitation is accomplished from instrumentated towers at each end of the over-ocean path.
