Abstract
Routing is a necessary & challenging task for mobile ad hoc networks (MANET). Messages are routed through nodes in MANET. The issue with the nodes is the consumption of power. Amount of battery power is the chief limiting factor. Every node operates on limited battery resources & multi-hop routing paths are used over changing network due to node mobility. If a node dies due to energy deficiency, the communication with other nodes will be halted. Hence, a power efficient protocol is required so that the neighboring nodes are aware of the energy depleting node and the message can be routed via other nodes. This paper introduces a threshold value indicating the depleting energy of the node where the neighboring nodes receive a warning message for changing the route of transmission.
