Abstract
The authors introduce a simple design for producing circularly polarized (CP) radiation from a microstrip patch by the use of the aperture coupling technique. Aperture coupling is advantageous in microwave monolithic integrated circuit (MMIC) applications since posts, probes, and vias are not required. In addition, the feed circuitry is isolated from the antenna environment by the ground plane. The present design is simpler than the dual aperture coupled CP patch, but has better performance.<>
