Abstract :
This paper describes the development effort for a very compact suite of high-power transmitters for military airborne electronic countermeasure (ECM) applications. The suite consists of four individual MPM-based, 2 to 7 GHz and 6 to 18 GHz, CW and pulse transmitters covering the 2 to 18 GHz frequency range. Each transmitter is a compact line replaceable unit (LRU) with all associated features. dB Control developed, tested, and qualified this transmitter suite in 15 months. This paper´s primary emphasis is on the design of highly reliable, vacuum electron device (VED) products for extreme environments, and also includes details of development and qualification activities. In conclusion, the paper outlines current production activities of this transmitter suite.
