Abstract :
The problem addressed in this paper is that of designing IIR (infinite impulse response) digital filters to meet a frequency response specified in both magnitude and delay (or phase). The authors are concerned with the application of Multiple Criterion Optimisation (MCO) to IIR digital filter design. The Simulated Annealing optimisation method is introduced and it is shown how this technique may overcome some of the problems associated with MCO. As an example, the design of a fourth order band pass filter is considered
