  • Abstract
It is found that a monofilar spiral slot has an optimum arm length for radiation of a CPW. The spiral slot radiates a wide unidirectional beam, having half-power beam widths on the order of 90 degrees in the two principal planes. The bandwidths for a 3-dB axial ratio criterion and a -14-dB return loss criterion are 7.4% and 4.9%, respectively. Using spiral slots, a 4*4 array antenna is designed through optimization of the array elements. The array shows an antenna gain on the order of 19 dB within a 3.7% bandwidth.<>
