Abstract :
A standard TV broadcast IOT from e2v technologies can easily be fitted into a tuneable circuit adapted for CW or pulsed applications enabling pulse peak powers up to 140 kW or CW powers up to 80 kW to be achieved over a frequency range of 400 MHz to 810 MHz. The IOTD2130 was first introduced for TV broadcasting in 1999 and is now used worldwide in both analogue and digital transmission applications. It provides the highest available output power of any e2v IOT and over 190 tubes are in regular service, reliably achieving >60,000 operating hours. The IOTD2130 has several features that make it ideal for CW applications. These features include direct water- cooling of the all copper internal anode, a large diameter output ceramic and a fully enclosed input circuit. This paper presents test results and performance data for CW operation of the IOTD2130 over a range of frequencies from 500 MHz to 800 MHz and pulsed performance at a frequency of 402.5 MHz.
