A New Radio-Facsimile Marine Weather Chart Receiver

Marine weather chart facsimile broadcasts can be received by ships throughout the world. Most broadcasts are in compliance with the World Meteorological Organization standards for both the signal characteristics and image quality. The signal characteristics are discussed, and sources of information for world-wide broadcast schedules are presented. A new system for recording the weather charts is described. The system uses a marine SSB radio receiver and a new recorder designed with digital techniques and few moving parts.
