Abstract :
A new solution for the multivariable minimax optimal robust design problem is presented. The solution of the mixed sensitivity H-optimization problem using a polynomial systems approach was first reported by Kwakernaak (1986). An alternative MIMO solution procedure also using the polynomial systems representation was obtained by Grimble (1987) which embedded the H problem within an LQG framework to give the desired H controller. The H design approach has proven itself in application studies, but has yet to be implemented in real industrial systems. The work described is an attempt to generate industrial multivariable controllers which can be computed relatively easily and without the use of abstract mathematical concepts. The theory has already been simplified for industrial use and the next step is to generate algorithms which are simple to implement and understand
