Abstract
The number of the mobile subscribers has been increasing. At the same time, the scale of the Internet is still rapidly increasing. This means that the next generation of mobile networks should handle not only voice but also multimedia data, including still images and video based on the IP protocol, without restriction. We propose a mobile network architecture for the multimedia age based on a mixed model of ATM connectionless and connection-oriented method. We also propose an efficient mobility management mechanism and analyze its effectiveness by simulation
