Abstract :
A simple method of measuring the radiation pattern of a resonant strip dipole antenna is described. The method makes use of techniques used in the construction of nonperturbing electric field probes and so avoids the need for a conventional transmission line feed structure. A direct comparison between measured results and theoretical results obtained assuming an idealized source at the feed point is thereby possible. The usefulness of the technique has been demonstrated in the measurement of the effect of an electrically thick finite-size dielectric substrate on the radiation pattern of the metal strip dipole.<>
