Abstract
Cellular organization offers high flexibility in implementation and operation of manufacturing systems. The problems of the discrete part manufacturing industry are special in many respects, and need special approach. A solution is the development of a generalized cell control system, that can be adapted to different requirements. The paper presents a general cell controller concept, and its implementation in a manufacturing cell. Design considerations and the operation of such a cell is also discussed
