Abstract
Fuzzy control has been applied to systems previously controlled by experienced operators, because the know-how involved in operating the systems can easily be represented by if-then fuzzy rules. Fuzzy model of the system to be controlled is also used. The authors propose a fuzzy predict and control method (FPCM), in which the fuzzy model is used for predicting future conditions of the system. The fundamental idea of FPCMs are discussed, and the procedure of an FPCM is precisely explained. A particular expert system, the integrated fuzzy control design system, IFCS, is described, and it is shown how it can be applied to an elevator group control system
