Abstract :
A formula for calculating the far scattering field is proposed in the time domain. It is shown that this formula can be obtained directly from the expression of the far scattering field in the frequency domain by using the inverse Fourier transform. The relation between the bistatic and monostatic cases is found with this formula. Then the time-domain inverse scattering problem can be solved for the bistatic case. Therefore, a theory of inverse scattering has been developed. It can also be seen that the results of E.M. Kennaugh and R.L. Cosgriff (1958) and C.L. Bennett et al. (1973) are special cases.<>
