Abstract

We develop a financial knowledge management system, known as FAM, which is able to digest online news and conduct financial activity mining. Financial online news articles are automatically fetched from the Web. By analyzing the text content, metadata capturing major attributes such as company names and people names are automatically extracted. The metadata together with content terms are processed to mine financial activities via an unsupervised learning algorithm. FAM is capable of dealing with multilingual news including English and Chinese.
