Abstract :
Examines the trends in design, and design tools, over the recent past. It attempts to make the point that design practice, and the use of design tools, has been much more subject to technology push than market pull. Traditionally, technology push has delivered outrageous increases in ASIC functionality and driven the user interface to designing from one level to the next highest level. An attempt is made to identify this level and a suggestion made for the user interface at this level of design abstraction
