Abstract
Today´s design team faced with new system requirements is, in numbers, significantly smaller than the last generation design team because of the high productivity achieved in ASIC design. With short design cycle times and `right first time´ performance, the ability to be first to market has characterised the mature ASIC engineer´s output. The system design itself has become far more secure because of the nature of ASICS and yet with those on an array base there is an easy route to adapt and upgrade any product
