Abstract
This paper presents a new method to model the effect of unified power flow controllers (upfcs) in power flow calculations. The proposed technique is to represent upfcs in power flow studies without increasing the size of the Jacobian matrix of power networks. The new method avoids the heavy computational burden due to the expansion of system sizes. The paper presents the basic equations of the proposed upfc model.
