Abstract :
The probability distribution of the rolling bearing vibration is unknown and it is difficult to obtain large numbers of related test data owing to costly experiments. Thus, the classical statistical theory which relies on large sample sizes and known probability distributions has difficulty in solving the problem of the rolling bearing vibration. For this reason, the information poor theory is employed to investigate the relation between the inner ring rib roughness and the tapered roller bearing vibration velocity and to supply a gap of the statistical theory. Two types of tapered roller bearings, twenty sets for each, are used in testing. The acquired data series of the inner ring rib roughness and the bearing vibration velocity before and after superfinishing are processed using the information poor theory. The equivalence relation of the two data series is established in the information poor space. The result presents that at the more than 93% confidence level of the information poor theory, the bearing vibration velocity has a close relationship with the inner ring rib roughness before or after superfinishing.
