Abstract :
Structural health monitoring of aeroengine components is the most vital issue for safe, uninterrupted and prolonged operating life of aircrafts. Initiation and propagation of cracks are the ultimate damages leading to the failures of components. This review aims at comparative evaluation of four advanced sensor systems (eddytherm, fibre Bragg grating, microelectromechanical systems, Piezoelectric ceramic zirconate titanate sensors) applied to the sensing and monitoring cracks in aeroengine components.
