Abstract :
Methods of storing medium grade (200 to 275\\deg C) thermal energy are of great economic interest for electric generation and process heat. Storage of water heated by land based energy sources and pumped to ocean or lake depths great enough that the ambient hydrostatic pressure equals the saturation pressure appears to be a low cost, safe, and technically feasible method for storing large volumes of hot water.
