Abstract :
The implicit finite difference/Green´s function method has been used to analyze the effect of ground roughness and a terrain obstacle on propagation within a surface duct. The effect of mode conversion and roughness amplitude was clearly exhibited. The method can be used to analyze propagation in elevated duct environments in hilly terrain where mountain peaks penetrate the duct. It can also be used in standard and duct environments that vary horizontally. It is noted that the efficiency and stability of the method make it an ideal candidate for extension to three-dimensional geometries.<>
