Abstract :
The influence of anisotropic large-scale surface waves on the temporal-spatial structure of the radar sea echo was investigated experimentally. A shipboard surface search radar with two all-around looking aerials (wavelengths 3 and 10 cm, 25 m height) was used as the source of radio-waves. The influence of azimuthal beam divergence on the structure of the radar signal was analyzed. The statistical processing procedure applied here to the received backscatter gives sufficient information about the anisotropic large-scale wave motion and makes it possible to investigate the fine structure of microwave radar scattering at low grazing angles.<>
