Abstract :
Electronic mail has become one of the most useful and powerful communication tools currently available to mankind. In the past such systems have used a single mode of communication (such as text or speech) in order to achieve the transfer of data, information or knowledge from one location to another. However, with the advent of high bandwidth data transmission facilities (such as ISDN and BISDN) there is an increasing interest in the use of multimedia message systems. The author describes some existing ongoing projects and a case study that is intended to investigate the problems of authoring and delivering such messages
