Abstract :
Burying submarine cable under the seabed is an effective means to enhance the reliability of sub-marine cable and protect it from damage from ship\´s anchors and trawling fishermen. NTT sub-marine cables are buried in shallow water whenever possible. Once repaired, however, bent sub-marine cables have been difficult to rebury. To cope with this problem, "Video Information Control Cable Burying System" (VTCS), which is capable of burying bent submarine cables after repair, has been recently developed. This paper discusses the VICS development necessity and process, and outline of the system and burying method.
