Abstract :
The results of experimental work from both the laboratory and the field are presented. The work has concentrated on the bit error ratio (BER) performance of a microcellular radio channel. The potential gains in terms of reduced fade margin protection against noise and interference are examined. The experiments have used a 16 kbit/s data rate which may seem quite low but with the results reported by Devasirvatham (1988) they may be applicable for channel bit rates up to 400 kbit/s
