Abstract
A new technique is presented with permits transceivers of different radio standards to communicate with each other. Applications are found in unlicensed bands where radios using different technologies, like for example Bluetooth, ZigBee, or WLAN IEEE 802.11, have to share the same radio spectrum. If those radios could exchange information regarding their usage of the spectrum, a more efficient and error-free reuse of the unlicensed band is possible. A technique is presented that exploits the existing radio hardware of the above-mentioned radios. A special signaling format is used that can be generated by each transmitter of the different standards, and can be decoded by each receiver of the different standards. Preliminary simulation results show that by applying this special signalling format, a direct communication between devices with different standards is possible
