Abstract :
Gas-insulated metalclad substations have a history extending back almost four decades, and SF6 has been used for 20 years. The by-products of arcing in SF6 can be dealt with satisfactorily by suitably designing the switchgear and the insulating properties of the gas can be maintained throughout the service life of the equipment. The design of a new substation, the GMT11, is described. It has a rated voltage of 145 kV and a rated current of 3150 A
