Abstract

The Association of Electronic Technology for Automobile Traffic and Driving (JSK) launched an electric vehicle-sharing demonstration in the Yokohama Minato Mirai 21 (MM21) area in October 1999. JSK aims to develop an EV-sharing system that a company or a local government could operate feasibly on a constant basis. The demonstration EV-sharing system consists of a ration center, EV stations and EVs. Vehicles are linked to the operations center via a cellular phone-based packet data communications service. Some 250 business people took part in the demonstration. The results of a user survey indicate that the system was evaluated satisfactorily for the most part by the participants
