Abstract :
Nondestructive testing and evaluation are widely applicable to a range of ocean engineering materials. Techniques of ultrasonic monitoring can be used to detect impending failure of fabricated metallic structures, verify the integrity of structural elements, and monitor the evolution of the ultimate strength of concrete castings and substructures. In addition, these techniques may be used to evaluate nonstructural marine materials in-situ. An overview of ultrasonic methods of nondestructive evaluation is given.
