Abstract :
Range resolution enhancement technique using oversampling based on capon method has been verified to reconstruct finer resolution for weather radar, however the performance degrades as the number of samples reduce, further analysis shows that the degradation is caused by the spread of noise subspace eigenvalues of the covariance matrix. A robust capon method based on diagonal loading has been postulated and implemented to resolve this problem, computer simulation has proved that smaller standard deviation can be obtained in the less number of samples, as a result, less dwell time for antenna in weather radar is needed.
